Environmental Geophysics Research (EGR) Laboratory

GPR
The EGR lab houses a state-of-the-art Sensors & Software pulseEKKO Pro ground penetrating radar (GPR) system integrated with a SmartCart to generate 2D and 3D GPR images. The system includes 25, 50, 100, 200, and 1000 MHz bistatic surface antennas, plus 100 and 200 MHz borehole antennas. The unit incorporates our Trimble Pathfinder Pro dGPS system for positioning.
sub bottom
The 10 kHz ODEC Stratavisor sub-bottom profiler is used to image shallow-water sediments for ecological, climatological, or engineering studies. The unit incorporates our Trimble Pathfinder Pro dGPS system for positioning.
Picture 3
The Geonics EM31-MK2 is used to noninvasively estimate the conductivity of the shallow subsurface. The unit incorporates our Trimble Pathfinder Pro dGPS system for positioning.
seismics
The EGR lab is currently switching over to a geometrics multi-node GEODE system, which also houses an ABEM Terraloc Mark 6 seismograph and numerous geophones for 2D, 3D, and 3C seismic studies. Various sources (vibroseis, downhole projectiles, impact) are available.
Jordan
Projects involving the EGR lab also incorporate magnetic gradiometry (left), electrical resistivity, and microgravity surveys.
